Penerapan Metode Six Sigma Sebagai Upaya Pengendalian Cacat Pada Proses Pengemasan Dan Penyimpanan Semen (Studi Kasus PT Cemindo Gemilang Plant Bayah)
Abstract
This study discusses the application of the six sigma method as an effort to control bag defects and cement weight defects at PT Cemindo Gemilang Plant Bayah. In the implementation of production, the problems that occur are defects in cement bags during the process of storing cement bags (empty bags), during the cement filling process and when storing cement finish good. During March 2023, there were 1738 bag defects of 50 kg, this figure is still far from the department's KPI target of 0 defects. Another problem is that cement weight defects are outside the tolerance limit of the stipulated per zak provision, which is ± 2% of net weight during March 2023, 119 zaks of cement weighing outside the tolerance limit were found. This study aims to determine quality control solutions that can be done to minimize bag defects and cement weight defects using the six sigma method with the DMAI (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve) approach at the Finish Good, Packing Plant, and Dispatch Department of PT Cemindo Gemilang. The results show graphic fluctuations that indicate variations in the packaging and storage process due to special variation factors such as workers, materials, machines, methods, and environmental factors. Improvements that can be made are replacing the DB bag chute roller port with stainless stell chute, adding a standby operator in the BD Port area, changing the maximum stack on storage is 20 zak (2 stacking) and covering the cement pile with tarpaulin or other watertight membranes, modifying the height between the stainless steel chute and Belt conveyor, replacing manual stacking method with palletizer machine. Modification by adding an iron plate parallel to the iron plate to print the existing production code with a distance of 45 cm between plates.
