KEBIJAKAN LUAR NEGERI AMERIKA SERIKAT DI ERA PRESIDEN JOE BIDEN DALAM MERESPONS ISU NUKLIR KOREA UTARA
Abstract
Since North Korea decided to leave the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 2003, they began carrying out nuclear proliferation by carrying out their first nuclear test in 2006. This sparked criticism from various parties. So the United States together with the Six Party Talks are trying to take an approach to relieve North Korea through various methods such as imposing sanctions and also imbalance towards North Korea. However, the approach that has been taken has not been able to reduce North Korean proliferation. The proliferation carried out by North Korea threatens security stability, especially in the East Asia region. North Korea continues to carry out nuclear proliferation and development to this day. The United States often makes foreign policies, one of which is the denuclearization policy aimed at North Korea. During President Obama's administration, the United States implemented a "patience strategy" policy, but failed to stop North Korea. After that, President Donald Trump also issued a new foreign policy, namely "strategic accountability", but it still failed because there were obstacles related to mutual trust which resulted in relations between the United States and North Korea collapsing. After experiencing failure, now in the era of President Joe Biden's administration the United States is starting to prepare another denuclearization policy aimed at North Korea. President Joe Biden together with South Korea issued the "Washington Declaration" which includes the Nuclear Consultative Group (NCG), as an effort to stop North Korea's nuclear power.. The author attempts to realize the foreign policy formed by Joe Biden by considering the internal and external arrangements that influence decision-making regarding United States foreign policy as a denuclearization effort during Joe Biden's presidential administration. In answering this research, the author used qualitative research methods, document-based research and internet-based research to complete explanations and secondary data as references for the author's research regarding United States Foreign Policy regarding North Korean denuclearization efforts.
