REPRESENTASI FEMINISME LIBERAL PADA FILM ANIMASI (STUDI SEMIOTIKA TOKOH ‘MULAN’ PADA FILM DISNEY MULAN)

Abstract

This research is about the act of liberal feminism carried out by Mulan with the purpose of describing the representation of liberal feminism shown in the animated film Mulan. The method used is Roland Barthes’s semiotic analysis with a qualitative approach. The results show that Mulan was oppressed by her surroundings and being told that women should only be in the private sphere. Then she made various efforts so that she could gain a place in the public sphere and eventually, she succeeded and she also gained recognition and respect from many people.
