Pembuatan Biodegradable Film Plastic Berbahan Dasar Bonggol Jagung Dengan Penambahan Kitosan Dan Gliserol Terhadap Karakteristik Film Bioplastic
Abstract
Biodegradable plastic is a type of plastic whose material are made from natural and environmentally friendly materials. Bioplastics can be made from natural polymers such as starch, cellulose, and fat. This type of plastic can decompose very quickly. In this study, corn cobs were used as the source of starch, and chitosan was added as a filler, while glycerol was used as a plasticizer in the production of bioplastic films. The study varied the amount of glycerol added in the production of the films to 4 ml, 6 ml, and 8 ml. The characterization tests performed in this study were Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), Tensile Strength, Swelling (water absorption), and Biodegradation tests. The results showed that the highest tensile strength value was 6.08 mpa for the 4 ml glycerol variation, while the lowest value was 1 mpa for the 8 ml glycerol variation. The sample with the highest biodegradability percentage was the 8 ml glycerol variation, with a rate of 78.310%. The sample with the highest swelling value was the 8 ml glycerol variation, which was 282%.
