dc.description.abstractIn this research, gold nanoparticles in the form of nanostars were synthesized from HAuCl4 gold ions and ethanol using UV light. The addition of ethanol and ascorbic acid was used as a reducing agent for the HAuCl4 gold ion. AgNO3 is also used as a grower/director to help in the growth of gold nanoparticle crystals towards nanostars so that they have the shape of sharp spikes. This synthesis uses ions in the form of HAuCl4.3H2O which are synthesized using the Photochemical Reduction method. Before the synthesis began, dilution was carried out on the HAuCl4.3H2O crystals, ascorbic acid and AgNO3. Then the synthesis was carried out for 2 hours with observations made every 30 minutes. Sample analysis was carried out using a UV chamber. Then to characterize the gold nanoparticles using two techniques, namely UV-Vis and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope) techniques. The research was carried out at 2 different intensities which were measured using a UV light meter. Based on research, the synthesis of HAuCl4 gold ions with ethanol (1.5mL: 4.5mL, 3mL:3mL, 4.5mL:1.5mL) was successfully carried out and the results showed that 3mL:3mL was the most optimal ratio for forming nanostars. Meanwhile, for the synthesis (1.5mL: 4.5mL, 3mL:3mL, 4.5mL:1.5mL) with the addition of ascorbic acid and AgNO3, the result was that the result of 3mL:3mL:50µL ascorbic acid:100µL AgNO3 was the best.en_US
