PEMANFAATAN LIMBAH TETRA PAK SEBAGAI MICRO-CELLULOSE FIBER DALAM KOMPOSIT POLI VINIL ALKOHOL
Abstract
In order to analyze the influence, morphology, and mechanical properties on the MCF extraction process from Tetra Pak and the addition of MCF to the PVAGlycerol mixture through a series of FTIR, SEM, and Tensile tests. Tetra Pak is processed through alkalization and bleaching stages to become MCF. MCF is added to the PVA-Glycerol solution according to the formula at 70 C, 200 rpm for 30 minutes then vacuumed for 4 hours then molded and left for 6 days before being ovened at 40 C for 24 hours. The results are stored for the characterization stage. During the successful extraction of cellulose through FTIR and SEM tests. However, there was a decrease in the mechanical value in making composites with the strongest reason being MCF agglomeration which was supported by the SEM test. While the addition of MCF also did not have a significant effect on the FTIR test results. Further research is needed on the manufacture of PVA-Glycerol-MCF composite films with a new formulation in order to increase the Tensile and Elongation values. And additional tests were carried out in the form of XRD, TGA and degradability tests on the PVA-Glycerol-MCF composite film.
