PENGEMBANGAN HYDROGEL BERBASIS AGAR-ALGINATE SEBAGAI WOUND DRESSING DENGAN PENAMBAHAN SENYAWA AKTIF DARI EKSTRAK BAKTERI STREPTOMYCES CAVOURENSIS SV 21
Abstract
This research stems from the issue of chronic wounds that are difficult to heal and highly susceptible to infection. The aim is to develop an agar-alginate-based hydrogel with the addition of Streptomyces cavourensis bacterial extract to enhance both physical and antibacterial properties. This study evaluates the potential of the combined formulation as an effective and environmentally friendly bioactive wound dressing. The method used is ionotropic gelation, which involves the formation of hydrogel through ionic interactions between alginate and calcium ions from CaCl₂. The results show that the hydrogel with an agar-alginate ratio of 70:30 demonstrates the best performance in terms of morphology, porosity, swelling, stability, and antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus. The balanced gel structure and open pore network support the diffusion of active compounds, making it a strong candidate for a bioactive wound dressing.
