    Abstract
Indonesia possesses a maritime area of 3,110,000 km² out of its total territory of 8,300,000 km², encompassing 16,771 registered islands interconnected by seas. This geographical condition positions Indonesia as an archipelagic nation with significant maritime potential. To support the vision of becoming a global maritime axis, seafarers require education and training aligned with international standards. The Standard of Training Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) serves as the primary framework to equip Indonesian seafarers with knowledge, skills, and certification. Pertamina Maritime Training Center (PMTC) plays a crucial role by providing 35 mandatory STCW-based programs (STCW 1978 Amendment 2010), 33 maritime academy programs, 16 maritime industry programs, and 3 OPITO certification programs. All training is conducted through theory and practice, supported by advanced facilities such as navigation simulators, maritime laboratories, training pools, and crane simulators. These initiatives are expected to enhance professionalism, global competitiveness, and strengthen the contribution of Indonesian seafarers to the international maritime industry.
