Equipment Performance Monitoring Dashboard
Abstract
This project focuses on developing an Equipment Performance
Monitoring System using Power BI to enhance the operational efficiency and
reliability of PETRONAS's 12 downstream plants. The system addresses key
challenges such as inconsistent equipment monitoring, barriers to cross-plant
learning, and the prevention of unplanned incidents. By integrating advanced
data analytics and interactive dashboards, the project identifies critical
parameters for monitoring key equipment, including heat exchangers, boilers,
and distillation columns. A structured methodology was applied to process raw
data, calculate equipment healthiness using weighted metrics, and visualize
performance trends in real-time.
The Power BI dashboard provides features such as compliance tracking,
healthiness indicators, and benchmarking tools to facilitate cross-plant learning
and enable proactive decision-making. The system successfully achieves its
objectives by equipping management with tools to monitor equipment
performance, analyze compliance, and address prolonged issues, while also
supporting cross-plant benchmarking and the adoption of best practices.
Furthermore, it enhances operational reliability by preventing unplanned
incidents through predictive analytics and early risk detection. This project
highlights the importance of modern monitoring systems in improving safety,
reducing downtime, and optimizing resource allocation. By leveraging these
tools, PETRONAS ensures operational excellence and sustainability in its
downstream operations.
