    Abstract
Fire protection systems are critical safety elements in the oil and gas industry to protect personnel, equipment, and production facilities from fire hazards. One of the main components of these systems is the Fire Water Pump, which functions to provide a reliable supply of high-pressure water during emergency conditions. However, field implementation often reveals that pump operations are still manual or semi automatic, potentially causing delayed responses and increasing the risk of system failure. Therefore, an automated control system integrated with a comprehensive safety protection mechanism is required. pompa otomasi dan proteksi safety pada Fire Water Pump berbasis Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) di PT Pertamina Maintenance & Construction. Metode yang digunakan meliputi studi literatur, observasi lapangan, perancangan logika kendali PLC, simulasi sistem, serta pengujian fungsional berdasarkan variasi tekanan dan kondisi operasi. This study aims to design and implement an automated pump control and safety protection system for a Fire Water Pump based on a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) at PT Pertamina Maintenance & Construction. The methodology includes literature review, field observation, PLC control logic design, system simulation, and functional testing under various pressure levels and operating conditions. The system is designed to operate in automatic, manual, and emergency modes, integrating pressure, level, and flow sensors, as well as safety features such as overload protection, emergency stop, and alarm systems. The results show that the PLC-based control system improves the reliability and efficiency of Fire Water Pump operations, provides faster system response during emergency conditions, and enhances overall operational safety. Therefore, the implementation of a PLC-based automation and safety protection system is considered effective and suitable for application in fire protection systems within the oil and gas industry.
