dc.description.abstract | Palm Kernell Shell can be categorized into biomass which can be used as bio-oil using the pyrolysis process. Palm Kernel Shells are processed at temperatures of 300, 400, 450, 500, 550, and 600oC in the fixed bed reactor. The purpose of this research was to study the pyrolysis kinetics of oil palm shells and the effect of temperature on the yield of bio-oil. In this study, the bio-oil yield was in the range of 9-41.36% of the total mass of biomass, where the bio-oil product increased with increasing temperature in the reactor. The study of pyrolysis kinetics used are simple arhennius and isoconversion. From the kinetics study, the activation energy values were obtained in the range 80-170 kJ / mol. The bio-oil obtained was then characterized by FTIR, viscometer, pycnometer, Titrant Karl Fischer and titration burette.
