For all of the strategies and technology used to avoid either scenario, the best way is to optimizing safety stock. The amount of stock is held should be in small quantity to minimize holding cost while providing a high level of service to serve customer demand on time. This study aims to evaluate the optimal safety stock for manufacturing company that has a seasonal demand and shortage problem for selected material. By using safety stock equation also forecast for the next period. One of the method to forecast the seasonal demand is using Holt-Winters Exponential Smoothing. The result shows the optimal safety stock should be increased from the previous provisions.
