    Abstract
Spherical tank is a component that is often used in gas industries. Some of the tank shortages that can be fatal include the selection of inappropriate materials, inadequate design and misuse. These factors, coupled with constant loading such as internal pressure, can cause the tank to crack which leads to material failure. A surface flaw or defect due to manufacturing process and material handling may be present on the tank wall. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the stress intensity factor (SIFs) of a surface crack on the inner spherical tank wall due to internal pressure for different crack geometry (a/c, a/t) and spherical tank (t, Ri). The finite element method of using ANSYS® Workbench software was used to perform the simulation. The effect of the geometry on the SIFs was discussed.
