dc.description.abstractShafts are often applied in the industrial world. It is generally used to transmit torque and rotation. One of the components is the tie rod on the steering system. In its use, the shaft often experiences fatigue due to continuous cyclic loads. The purpose of this study is to calculate the stress intensity factor on multiple surface cracks due to tensile and torsional loading on the shaft, especially in the tie rod section. The method used is the finite element method with ANSYS Workbench software. In this study, the stress intensity factor is a parameter used to evaluate cracks. This study has 27 configurations of semi-elliptical surface cracks. The results of this study indicate that large geometries such as shaft diameter (D), crack depth (a), and inclination angle (α) greatly affect the value of the stress intensity factor produced.
