    Prarancangan Pabrik Aseton Berbasis Isopropanol Kapasitas 25.000 Ton/Tahun

    Abstract
    ABSTRACT Acetone is one of the simple ketones that is liquid at room temperature. Acetone with molecular formula of CH3COCH3 has a strong odor characteristic. Acetone is widely used as an industrial solvent, such as for paint, varnishes, cellulose acetate, fibers, plastics, rubber, cosmetics, adhesives, and the manufacture of lubricating oils. Acetone plant from Isopropyl Alcohol with 25.000 tons/year capacity has been planning to be built in Cilegon Industrial Area with total area of 31.000 m2 to meet the needs of Acetone in Indonesia. Acetone is made from Isopropyl Alcohol with dehydrogenation process at a pressure of 2 bar and temperature of 350oC with ZnO catalyst on a Fixed Bed Multitube Reactor. The reactor runs in isothermal and non-adiabatic process using Molten Salt as reactor heating fluid. At these operating conditions the conversion of Isopropyl Alcohol is 88.7%. The plant uses 32717,7 tons/year of Isopropyl Alcohol as raw material with purity 80% w/t (water contained 20%) and will generate 25,000 tons/year of Acetone with a purity of 99.96% w/t (0.04% w/t Isopropyl Alcohol) and 865,757 tons/year of hydrogen gas as byproduct with purity 99.68% v/v (0.32% v/v Acetone). The plant requires 195.094,03 tons/year of water, 2024,71 tons/year of steam, 52.223,76 tons/year of molten salt, 325036,8 m3/year of air, and 438,353 kVA of electricity. From the preliminary study, it has been calculated that the fixed capital requires is $ 18,155,853 + Rp 295.382.409.385 while the working capital is $ 17,058,208 + Rp 10.870.386.655. This Acetone plant provides profitability as such, profit before tax Rp 79.422.551.847 in case of feasibility parameter ROI before tax is 15.84 %, POT before tax is 4.3 year, BEP at 56.76 %, SDP at 30.28 %, and DCFRR is 18.91 %. Based on consideration of the results of the evaluation, the Acetone plant from Isopropyl Alcohol with a capacity of 25,000 tons/year is worth to be further studied.
