dc.description.abstract | This study aims to find out what the meaning of the role of significant others during the decision-making process by two students in a dating relationship is in the film 6 Years. This study uses a qualitative method with a constructivist and text-based paradigm. Sources of data in this study are scenes and dialogues from the film 6 Years with a sentence analysis unit. These two units of analysis will be discussed using Social Semiotic Theory. The results showed that the significant role of others during the decision-making process in the dating relationship in the romance drama film 6 Years is depicted through 3 steps, namely recognizing needs and identifying problems, identifying and weighing appropriate alternatives, and choosing from available alternatives. In addition to these 3 steps, there is also 1 step that bridges the first and second steps where at this step an alternative choice appears to identify whether it is the right alternative. Based on this description, the meaning of the role of the significant other is as one of the individuals whose opinions and suggestions are listened to by someone when they are in the decision-making process. | en_US |
