The conflict between Turkey and Greece had existed for hundreds of years, even before the two countries were formed. It is reflected in several problems that often involve the two countries, one of which is the contestation of territorials in the East Mediterranean Sea. The conflict between the two countries also involves the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as satellite countries of Turkey and Greece, which are the core actors in this polemic. In this study, the author will explain the aggressive actions of Turkey and Greece, especially Turkey, from the point of view of the Mavi Vatan Doctrine. The strategic location of the East Mediterranean Sea with its rich reserves of energy resources is one of the reasons the two countries are competing to dominate the region through Cyprus. The contestation of energy control in the East Mediterranean Sea will also be a significant influence for countries that have succeeded in securing it, such as the country's abundant reserves of energy resources and success in fulfilling national energy security. It can even be used as an economic tool through the international energy market and other pathways. This thesis is structured to analyze how the history of the conflict between Turkey and Greece affects the contestation of energy control between the two countries in the East Mediterranean Sea escalated into a sovereignty problem. In analyzing this phenomenon, the author will use the concept of the Mavi Vatan Doctrine. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and with data collection techniques through literature study. This study aims to find out how the Mavi Vatan Doctrine issued by Turkey adds to its fierce contestation with Greece, especially regarding the territorial control in the East Mediterranean Sea region.en_US
