Tetrafluoroethylene (C2F4) is a colorless gas-flavored chemical compound used as the main ingredient in the production of homopolymer polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Increasing demand for PTFE which tends to increase every year will increase the chances of establishing TFE factories to support the needs of raw materials. Therefore, to help meet some of the needs of TFE in the world that continues to increase, there will be a TFE plant with a capacity of 25,000 tons/year that operates continuously for 330 days per year to meet some of the world's needs. The plant is planned to be established in Cilegon, Banten in 2023. The area of land used is 16360 m2. The raw material of TFE production is Chlorodifluoromethane (CHClF2) with the needs of raw materials chlorodifluoromethane (99.99%) as much as 44,033,719.77 kg/year and diluent steam which will later be processed using the pyrolysis method. The type of reactor used is a multitube plug flow with a conversion of 89.87% and the reaction takes place at 500oC and a pressure of 1 atm on a non-adiabatic non-isothermal basis. The reaction takes place exothermically and is maintained so that the temperature remains, so there is a need for cooling in the form of molten salt. In addition to the main C2F4 product, the factory also produces HCl byproducts of 50690.64968 with a fairly favorable selling value. As support, utility units are needed to supply sanitation water needs as much as 408.3705 kg/hour, process water as much as 37,036.59 kg/hour, steam as much as 31,706.66 kg/hour, cool water as much as 96,091.19 kg/hour, compressed air as much as 47.5776 m3 / hour, and electricity needs of 361,2039 kW. The management of this factory is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a total number of labor needs, which is 231 people. The required working capital is Rp 156.535.128.205,82. The economic outlook of the factory is with Pay out Time before tax for 1.5 years and Pay out Time after tax for less than 3 years, Rate of Investment before tax by 66.5% and Rate of Investment after tax by 49.9%, Breakeven Point by 10.34%, Shut down Point by 9.66% production capacity and IRR by 21%. From the economic boxing, it can be concluded that a tetrafluoroethylene plant with a capacity of 25,000 tons/year is feasible to be established.
