    Abstract
Indigosol Yellow IRK is one of the dyes contained in textiles. The results of Indigosol Yellow IRK dye waste can pollute the environment and have a bad impact on health because it is carcinogenic and non-biodegradable. One of the methods commonly used to treat dye waste is the adsorption process. Bamboo charcoal is used as one of the natural ingredients for the manufacture of activated carbon. This study contains activated charcoal which is activated using an acid solution (H3PO4) and an alkaline solution (K2CO3). This study aims to determine the volatile content, water content, ash content, bound carbon content, and the adsorption ability of activated bamboo charcoal against Indigosol Yellow IRK dye. Activated charcoal was activated by varying the concentration of H3PO4 and K2CO3 by 5% and 10%, by varying the activation volume by 100 mL and 150 mL, and by activating the chemical for 3 hours and 6 hours. From the results of the study, the best results were obtained on the activation of bamboo charcoal using H3PO4 solution of 99.63% for the optimum contact time of 50 minutes and 98.45% for the optimum dose of charcoal weighing 0.075 grams. While the activation of K2CO3 solution obtained the best results of 99.63% for the optimum contact time of 40 minutes and 99.73% for the optimum dose of 0.1 gram of charcoal.
