Strategi Rusia Dalam Menyelesaikan Dinamika Sengketa Jalur Distribusi Pipa Gas Nord Stream Dengan Ukraina
Abstract
This study discusses the Russian gas dispute conflict through the largest Russian energy company, Gazprom, which makes Russia a supplier country for the European Union's natural gas needs. Russia's action to stop the supply of natural gas to the European Union through the pipeline in Ukraine was due to Russia's accusations against Ukraine of stealing Russian gas supplies. Energy complexities related to the dispute between Russia and Ukraine are also based on rising gas prices, Ukraine's theft of natural gas and Ukraine's debt problems. When Russia stops the flow of gas through Ukraine, the energy supply to the European Union could also be threatened. The method used by the author in conducting his research is a qualitative research method with various series of secondary data collection processes. In this case, the author uses the theory of energy geopolitics to analyze Russia’s strategy in the gas pipeline distribution dispute with Ukraine by utilizing the Nord Stream pipeline. Geopolitics of energy Grygiel Jakub stated that the geopolitical situation is determined by geographic variables, namely trade routes, resource centers that can influence geopolitics and national boundaries that can affect countries. Through the construction of the Nord Stream project, Russia is committed to carrying out its strategic goals by building infrastructure so that it can stop using Ukraine as a transit country for Russian gas exports.
