Strategi Geoplitik Tiongkok Dalam Mempertahankan Kepulauan Paracel dan Spratly di Konflik Laut Tingkok Selatan Pada Era Xi Jinping
Abstract
The disputed conflicts that occurred in the South China Sea have occurred after the Second World War. China in maintaining claims to the Spratly and Paracel Islands during the reign of Xi Jinping in the midst of the South China Sea conflict has been going on for quite a long time. China under Xi Jinping's administration gave a perspective to the world that China is a country that has power in the world political arena. This can be seen in China's attitude and actions in defending the claims of the Spratly and Paracel Islands in the South China Sea region based on the economic and strategic value of the area. Guaranteeing to survive and seeking hegemony is a state's instinct to behave and act in an international system that is full of uncertainties. The capability of a country becomes a benchmark and a tool for the country in achieving the goals of national interests. This study aims to provide an understanding of geopolitical strategy through the perspective of neorealism (defensive realism) by Beijing that is materialistic as a way to defend its interests in the Paracel and Spratly islands against countries involved in the South China Sea dispute during the Xi Jinping era. To achieve this, researchers will look through a neorealism perspective to see geopolitical strategies with qualitative methods, namely previous research documents to provide a comprehensive description of Xi Jinping's geopolitical strategy in supporting the claims of the Paracel and Spratly islands.
