    Abstract
This paper focuses on the tariff policy of the United States, namely the 'Trump Tariffs' imposed on China. The rise of the Chinese economy has finally triggered the United States to issue the 'Trump Tariffs' policy. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors behind the United States issuing the 'Trump Tariffs' policy. This research will use qualitative and descriptive analytical methods. This study uses the theory of foreign policy proposed by Ryan K. Beasley. Several factors from foreign policy such as external factors and internal factors. External factors are more focused on how the United States maintains its hegemony from foreign interference, with the aim of competing and disrupting the Chinese economy. One of the internal factors can be seen from the leadership aspect, namely the president of the United States, starting from the leadership style to the steps for making policies. These things are then developed by the author to become the answers and findings of this research.
