The increasing need for fuel oil (BBM) in Indonesia is something that cannot be avoided and
will increase from year to year. Biodiesel is an alternative energy to replace fossil fuels from
transesterification of vegetable oil with methanol. The abundant availability of biodiesel raw
materials such as Waste Cooking Oil makes a distinct advantage for Indonesia. The processes
used to manufacture biodiesel from used cooking oil are esterification and transesterification.
The esterification process functions to convert free fatty acids (FFA) into methyl esters
(biodiesel) and water, while the next process is transesterification to convert triglycerides into
methyl esters (biodiesel) and glycerol. The location of the factory will be established in the
Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan Special Economic Zone (KEK MBTK), Bengalon District,
East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province. To operate this factory, a workforce of 207
people is needed with a Public Limited Company as a form of business entity. This company
will be led by a main director with a line and staff system as the structure of the leadership
system. In this factory, the fixed capital investment is IDR 350,376,103,661.66. ROI before
tax is 52.55% and ROI after tax is 33.25%. While POT before tax is 2.1543 years and after
tax is 3.404 years. Break Even Point (BEP) of 18.00% and Shut Down Point (SDP) of
10.66% of production capacity. Obtained IRR of 16.66%. From the economic analysis, it can
be concluded that a biodiesel plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons/year is feasible to build.
