dc.description.abstract | Randy Willar, 102219094. ANALYSIS OF CATION EFFECT ON Na2SO3 BASED CERIUM SALT PVA SOLID POLYMER ELECTROLYTE
This research is about Solid Polymer Electrolyte (SPE) with Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) as the host polymer, salt or Sodium Sulfite Na2SO3 is added to this research as much as 15% and glycerol plasticizer is added as much as 0. 5 Gr, variants of cerium additives were also added as an increase in ionic conductivity, variants of cerium are Ce(OH)4, Ce(SO4)2, Ce(NO3)3, with the composition of each cerium is 1% and 5%, Tests conducted on this sample are, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to analyze the amorphous and crystalline structure of the sample, Fourier Transfer Infrared (FTIR) to analyze a functional group in the sample, Differential Scanning Calorymetri (DSC) to analyze changes in properties, thermal stability, and measurement of sample heat flow, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) for evaluation of thermal stability and mass weight loss in the sample, and the last is the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) test to measure the value of resistance and ionic conductivity in the sample. Based on the XRD test proves that the nature of the amorphous structure in the sample is found in the sample with 1% Cerium composition compared to 5% Cerium, but the FWHM calculation shows that the 5% Cerium composition has a high value. From the FTIR test results that the addition of Ce(OH)4 Cerium Hydroxide salt causes the intensity of the O-H group owned by PVA to be greater, this indicates that the O-H bond of PVA becomes weaker. DSC results show that the addition of cerium causes the glass transition temperature to be faster, which indicates that there is an increase in amorphous properties due to the addition of cerium. The TGA test shows an increase in thermal degradation with the addition of Cerium, this proves that with the addition of Cerium the amorphous level in the sample increases. The EIS test shows that the SPE sample with the addition of Ce(OH)4 Cerium Hydroxide as much as 5% produces an increasingly high ionic conductivity with a conductivity value of 6.414 x 〖10〗^(-5) S/Cm.
