    Abstract
    During the drilling process, especially in directional drilling, contact between the drill string and the wellbore can be in the form of side forces and friction. Monitoring torque and drag to ensure normal conditions is important when drilling with directional wells. Therefore, this research focuses on analyzing the results of torque and drag simulations in predicting possible problems that arise related to friction factors that occur during drilling operations in the Murifa field for the MRF – 1 well accompanied by an increase in well depth from 1803 mMD to 3003 mMD, namely the MRF – 1A well scenario. This study produces a torque and drag simulation for the MRF-1 well that can safely perform drilling operations at a depth of 1803 mMD. The problem occurs when there is a scenario of increasing the depth to 3003 mMD, namely the MRF –1A scenario. The drillstring, especially the 5" #22.60 S/P drill pipe, experienced torque failure at a depth of 2250 - 3003 mMD when rotating on bottom. Failure when rotating off bottom at a depth of 2700 - 3003 mMD. Therefore, three scenarios were given: providing lubricant, changing the nominal HWDP and DC, and using another BHA design.
