    Abstract
Well X is an offshore well located in North East Malaysia. The well has a total depth of 12,321 ft MD and is a directional well with a maximum inclination of 57.8°. The well has four sections, namely the conductor, surface, intermediate and liner production sections. In directional wells, casing position is a challenge that needs to be considered to facilitate displacement efficiency and to avoid stuck pipe problems. To overcome these problems, a suitable centralizer is required in well X to maintain the casing position (stand-off) in the center of the wellbore. The purpose of this study is to determine the appropriate use of a centralizer in Well X and to analyses the effect of stand-off casing on the displacement efficiency of Well X. The study was conducted using WellPlanTM software from Halliburton Landmark. The tests showed that the results of the use of centralizers have a significant effect on the casing stand-off value in Well X, where the use of the correct centralizer can maintain a casing position of at least 70% stand-off, and the casing stand-off value affects the displacement efficiency value.
