dc.description.abstract | Minimum Miscibility Pressure (MMP) determination in CO₂ injection plays a vital role in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) processes. This study investigates MMP estimation using the open-source MATLAB Reservoir Simulation Toolbox (MRST), comparing its results with those from the commercial simulator Computer Modelling Group (CMG) Winprop and several empirical correlations, including Firoozabadi & Khalid, Alston, and Glaso. Based on MRST simulations, the MMP for Multiple Contact Miscibility (MCM) is found to be 1300 psia, while First Contact Miscibility (FCM) occurs at 2650 psia. These results show good agreement with CMG Winprop outputs, with deviations of 9.66% for MCM and 1.42% for FCM, indicating that MRST provides reliable estimations. However, MRST requires manual iterations and detailed interpretation of graphical data, such as gas saturation profiles, phase equilibrium behavior, and fluid densities across pressure ranges. In contrast, CMG offers faster and more efficient workflows with automated features. Despite its limitations, MRST proves to be a valuable tool for academic and research purposes, especially for developing and testing new methods in MMP analysis. It is not currently ideal for commercial use but serves well in educational and experimental applications within reservoir simulation studies | en_US |
