The oil and gas industry continually strives to improve the efficiency of drilling operations. Stripping operations combine the theories of snubbing and Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) to manage annular pressure increases. This research focuses on designing drilling parameters for stripping operations in a directional well in Well X, Field Y, with the aim of determining an efficient well control method to kill a kick and optimize the existing design. The study results indicate that stripping was performed at a depth of 159 mMD when a kick occurred, to insert the drill string as deep as possible into the kick zone, while maintaining safety at the surface and at the bottom of the wellbore to avoid fracture or underground blowout. The stripping process involved staged circulation using the wait and weight method at depths of 531 mMD, 1050 mMD, and 1700 mMD. Casing pressure was maintained at 600 psi by bleeding off mud to prevent excessive pressure buildup and fracture. The kick was successfully controlled at a depth of 1700 mMD with a 1.3 SG killing mud.
