    Abstract
This report evaluates the feasibility of applying technology for the development of offshore geothermal energy, focusing on the Angsi and Resak platforms. The study aims to support PETRONAS's decarbonization through the utilization of inactive platforms as geothermal energy hubs, in line with the net-zero emissions target by 2050. Subsurface analysis includes mapping thermal distribution and identifying potential reservoirs, while surface analysis involves simulating the design of an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) using isopentane as the working fluid. The results show that reservoirs with temperatures up to 184°C have great potential to support an efficient ORC system. The simulations produced net power outputs of 143.2 kW at an inlet temperature of 80°C, 171.3 kW at 100°C, and 292.2 kW at 120°C, proving that the ORC can meet most of the platform's energy needs. This study also compares several ORC technologies from vendors such as Climeon, TICA, and ORCAN, and emphasizes the importance of optimal temperatures (100–120°C) for maximum performance. Recommendations include optimizing closed-loop systems, developing well designs that maintain reservoir sustainability, using high-efficiency heat transfer fluids, and selecting strategic locations based on geological parameters. This study provides a technical foundation for utilizing offshore geothermal energy as an efficient and sustainable renewable energy solution.
