Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) presents significant technical challenges due to higher mechanical and hydraulic loads in long horizontal sections. This study aims to conduct a rig selection and horsepower analysis for the RKL-006 well, which has a true vertical depth of 9,000 ft and 27,325 ft measured depth. The methodology involves systematic checks or verifications of hoisting, circulating, and rotating systems using simulations and calculations to determine minimum operational thresholds and ultimately the horsepower through torque, drag, and operational parameters. Results show a maximum static hook load of 1,081.11 kip, a minimum required hoisting horsepower of 1,494.20 HP, a circulating power of 1,443.15 HP, and a rotating horsepower of 1,009.69 HP. This design theoretically requires only a 1,500 HP rig. However, based on an evaluation of actual rig specifications, the study concludes that in reality, the Apexindo 1,500 HP and 2,000 HP rigs fail to fulfill some of the design requirements. Therefore, the 3,000 HP NDC Rig-14 should be selected as it exceeds all design criteria with the highest safety margin with a 1,500 kip hook load capacity and 55,250.25 ft.lb torque rating.en_US
