dc.description.abstract | Akhmad Izzat Abidin. 101317028. Casing failure evaluation of geothermal well “AIA-1” based on
New Zealand Standard and API 5CT.
This research is discussing about casing failure evaluation of geothermal “AIA-1” based on New
Zealand Standard and American Petroleum Association chapter 5 about Casing & Tubing. Evaluation
is addressed to determine the cause of casing failure in “AIA-1” well. Method that used in this study
is make validation of casing appropriateness with calculation and provide recommendation of
suitable casing design. The aspects reviewed in this study are casing depth configuration, casing
ability to withstand the loads, thermal stress analysis, and casing strength due to corrosion. From the
study, found that production casing failure was caused by the casing rating which was below the load
and the existing corrosive level. In addition, in the section liner there is also a rating discrepancy
with the existing corrosive value. The recommendation obtained after research on the “AIA-1” well
is to change the Production Casing 13-3/8” class from K-55 54 lb/ft to L-80 68 lb/ft, Production Liner
10-3/4” from K-55 51 lb/ft to L-80 51 lb/ft, and Production Liner 7” from K-55 26 lb/ft to L-80 28
lb/ft with the same casing depth configuration. | en_US |
