Penobscot Field is an exploration field located in Scotia Basin, Nova Scotia, Canada. Based on Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) in 2008, Penobscot field has an indications of hydrocarbons presence in the form of gas. There are two wells available, Penobscot L-30 (gas well) and B-41 (dry well). In this research, prediction of gas distribution in Sand 4 layer within Missisauga Formation was obtained by applying Extended Elastic Impedance (EEI) inversion method. The results from cross-plot analysis shows that sensitive parameters for separating fluid types are Lambda Rho and Vp/Vs parameters. The next step is to perform a cross correlation between Lambda Rho and Vp/Vs parameters against EEI log to obtain the optimum 𝜒 value. Lambda Rho log response has a correlation value of 0.97 with EEI at 𝜒 = 18°, while the log Vp/Vs response has a correlation value of 0.99 with EEI at 𝜒 = 31°. Gas can be distinguished by an EEI 18° at an elastic impedance less than 27000 (ft/s*g/cc) and an EEI 31° less than 26000 (ft/s*g/cc). The results of the EEI inversion indicates that the hydrocarbon of gas content spreads along ± 4 Km to the southwest and ± 2 Km to the north from the L-30 well.en_US
