Adrian Uria Patirick Danun, 101216098. Geology of Samudra area, Gumelar Sub-District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.
This research was conducted in Samudra and surrounding area, Gumelar Sub-District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java in the coordinates of 7°20'27.20"S - 7°23'10.24"S dan 109°0'0.10"E - 109°2'11.20"E, with the area of research approximately 20 Km2. The objective of this research is to know Samudra and surrounding area’s geological condition and setting. Methods that are used in this research are divided into three stages, the preliminary stage, includes determination of research topic to literature study, the field stage, includes field activity and acquiring data, and the analysis and report stage, includes the processing of the data and making geological synthesis with the final report. Samudra and surrounding area is part of the Banyumas Basin, on which this basin was made on Oligocene-Miocene as a result of orogenesis of Southern Java mountains. There are three unofficial rock units in the research area, which are Sandstone-Claystone 1 Unit, deposited on Middle Miocene with Middle-Outer Neritic environment, Sandstone Unit, deposited on Middle-Late Miocene with Upper Bathyal environment, and Sandstone-Claystone 2 Unit, deposited on Pliocene. There are two geomorphological units in the research area, which are Fold Hill Unit, and Fault Zone Hill Unit. Geological structures in this area of research are Samudra Thrust Fault, Samudra Syncline, Samudra Anticline, and Petahunan Strike-Slip Fault with the direction of these structures are relatively NE-SW. These geological structures probably were formed on the same age of Pliocene-Pleistocene.
