Real-Time Vibration Detection to Optimize Drilling Operation
Abstract
Vibration is a common phenomenon that occurs when the tool operates, especially in drill string components when drilling. Vibration can be very dangerous, especially for tools, if excessive, because later it can cause tool failure and other problems. Improve drilling operations to prevent vibration failure by mitigating high vibration while drilling. Vibration mitigation can be achieved by considering the factors that affect vibration, such as hole angle, drilling fluid type, heave, bit type, and lithology. High vibration prevention involves real-time vibration monitoring with a vibration sensor as part of a tool Measurement While Drilling (MWD) mounted in a gamma-ray, resistivity, or sonde insert. We can use this sensor to record the vibration in the downhole while drilling and get data if there is any indication of high vibration.
