Ecomorphological studies are often used to reconstruct paleoenvironments. This method usually uses mammalian functional morphologies as paleoenvironments indication. This is based on the theory that environmental changes can directly affect the functional morphology of mammals. In this research, an ecomorphological study was conducted to reconstruct the paleoenvironment of the Sangiran area using Bovidae fossils. Bovidae was chosen because this group lives in a wide range of habitats from grasslands to rainforests. In addition to Bovidae fossils, this study also uses secondary geological and palinological data to help reconstruct a more detailed paleoenvironment. The output of this study shows that the paleoenvironment of Sangiran during the Pleistocene underwent a change from a coastal environment surrounded by swamps which is a more closed environment to a more terestrial open grassland environment.en_US
