Microalgae is a photosynthetic organism in a micro size cell that has a high potential as a biodiesel feedstock. Nannochloropsis oculate is a distinctive kind of microalgae where its habitat is in marine water and has a high lipid content. In this research, it is focusing on the utilization of sodium bicarbonate as an additional nutrition for marine microalgae Nannochloropsis oculate. The aim of adding sodium bicarbonate is enhancing the growth and the accumulation of lipid in Nannochloropsis oculate. The growth was examined each day since the first day of cultivation until the last day of cultivation or day 9. Biomass and cell productivity is the parameter for analysing growth. In the other hand, the data for lipid accumulations were obtained from cell disruptive and FAMEs (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) extraction. Nannochloropsis oculate was attained from Balai Besar Perikanan Budidaya Air Payau Jepara that afterward was cultivated in Pertamina Research and Technology Innovation. The marine microalgae were cultivated in 4 different concentrations of bicarbonate, which is 0 g/L; 0,1 g/L; 0,25 g/L; and 0,5 g/L. Through this research, the results show that the implementation of 0,25 g/L sodium bicarbonate could enhance the growth and lipid accumulation. Obtained lipid content is 68,22%, biomass productivity is 0,0367 ± 0,016 g/L/day, and cell productivity is 4,99E+12 ± 1,98E+12 cell/day. The obtained fatty acid also gives a high result in composition of palmitic acid (36,14%) and oleic acid (11,29%).en_US
