    Abstract
The mud's formula selection for mud design is the important part in exploration and exploitation activities of oil and gas. The functions of drilling mud are circulate the rock cutting to the surface, lubricant and cooling the drill bit. The mud's formula selection affected to the mud's properties such as fluid loss in order to figure the mud suspension's filtration loss volume to the formation effectively. The mud's formula selection result can be through the laboratory studies to get the best formula in making drilling mud. The mud's will get physical analyzed through laboratory studies using bentonite, xanthan gum, starch, KCl polymer, and polyamine as the additives. Based on the studies, addition of bentonite, starch, and polyamine made the right composition for reduced the filtration volume with the details such as 9 grams bentonite, 6 grams starch, and 10 mL polyamine. The mud's formulation that has been made by bentonite, starch, and polyamine can be used to the water-based mud, especially the native mud that has not lubricating and cooling because the mud's base are bentonite and water.
