dc.description.abstractThis final thesis discusses the directional one phase well that is highly affected by torque and drag. The focus of this research is to compare the torque and drag parameters for an 8.5-inch hole size to a 9.5-inch hole size as a development of previous research about the lower cost of an 8.5-inch OPW. OPW is a one-section drilling using a diverter mode from surface to TD, eliminating the surface section. It is drilled as a directional well, which is limited by torque and drag. The final thesis is carried out by simulating the torque and drag parameters using drilling simulation software by Contractor L. The well is simulated with a hole size of 9.5 inch at first, and then simulation is carried out for the same input data with a different hole size of 8.5 inch. The result will be compared to determine if the 8.5-inch open hole size is safe to be drilled. The results show that an 8.5-inch open hole size gives no problem for torque and drag parameters with a slightly different value from the original one, 9.5 inch. It is recommended to use the 8.5 inch considering no problems occurred from the torque and drag parameters and the lower cost of mud and cement.en_US
