GEOLOGI DAERAH MEKARGALIH DAN SEKITARNYA, KECAMATAN CIKALONGKULON, KABUPATEN CIANJUR, PROVINSI JAWA BARAT
Abstract
This Research was conducted in the Mekargalih and Surrounding Areas, Cikalongkulon District, Cianjur Regency, West Java Province with coordinates 107.11207 to 107.13400 and latitude -6.3712 to -6.3993, with an area of research ± 20 km2. The aim of this research was to understand the geological conditions of the research area to produce a geological synthesis. The analysis carried out in this study included geomorphological analysis, petrographic analysis, micropaleontological analysis, and geological structure analysis. The results of the analysis are used to produce the geological history of the study area. The research method used includes the preliminary stage, the data collection stage and field observations, the data analysis and processing stage, and the report preparation stage. The geomorphology of the study area consists of four units, namely the Fault Zone, Intrusive Hills Unit, Denudational Plains Unit, and Volcanic Ridge Unit. The Stratigraphy in the study area consists of five rock units from old to young which are composed of Sandstone-Claystone Units and Middle Miocene Sandstone-inserted Claystone Unit forming the Cantayan Formation, Dacite Intrusion Units of Pliocene Age, and The Pleistocene Lava Rhythmic Unit. The structure in the study area bedan ti develop at the age of the Pliocene with a north-south tectonic regime style producing right-hand faults dominant to the southwest-northeast and dominant reverse fault to the west-east.
