EVALUASI SISTEM BLOWOUT PREVENTER (BOP) PADA KEGIATAN WORKOVER DI SUMUR X
Abstract
Workover operations are a critical part of well maintenance activities in the oil and
gas industry and carry a high risk of formation pressure control failure. Therefore,
evaluation of the Blowout Preventer (BOP) system is essential, as it serves as the
primary safety device to ensure operational safety. This study aims to evaluate the
compliance of the BOP system used in the workover operations at Well X with the
API RP 53 standard, in order to ensure adherence to international standards and
enhance safety and operational reliability in the field. The objectives of this research
include determining the working pressure at Well X, calculating the accumulator
capacity and required reservoir fluid volume, evaluating the BOP system's
compliance with the API RP 53 standard, and designing a proper BOP system
configuration that meets the standard. The research employs a quantitative
descriptive method with an evaluative approach, aiming to assess the suitability of
the BOP system in use against API RP 53 requirements. The results show that the
BOP system applied to the analyzed well is in accordance with the API RP 53
standard. The recommended BOP stack configuration that complies with the API
RP 53 standard for Well X is the 3K – 11 – SRRA setup, consisting of a Cameron
Hydril annular 11” 3000 psi, Cameron Type U double ram (shear + VBR) 11” 3000
psi, drilling spool 11” 3000 psi, 2-1/16" choke manifold 3000 psi, 2” choke line
3000 psi, 2” kill line 3000 psi, and an accumulator rated at 3000 psi with a usable
volume of 640 liters (169 gallons), 16 bottles, and a reservoir capacity of 1290 liters
(340 gallons).
